Solar BAR

The Solar BAR is the only recorder designed for ultra-endurance continuous monitoring in remote and hard to access places.

Featuring a 10W solar panel with a built-in charge controller and no external cables or connectors, the Solar BAR is capable of recording continuously (or scheduled) for years with only minimal service visits to change memory cards. 

A practical choice for researchers who need to record a whole season of data in sub zero temperatures or in a harsh desert where human access is only feasible at certain times of the year.

Case and Mounting

• Rugged, waterproof, lockable case made from tough UV resistant plastic.
• The Solar BAR can be mounted at an adjustable angle to maximise solar exposure 
• Space for silica desiccant sachets to ensure any condensation is absorbed before it can affect the device.

 

Recording Capabilities

- 4 x SD card slots for cards up to 1TB each.

• Supports 16-bit WAV and FLAC (lossless compression) recording at sample rates from 8kHz to 192kHz
• Adjustable gain up to 60dB
• Supports multiple sample rates: 8kHz, 16kHz, 22.05kHz, 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz (with corresponding anti-aliasing filters).
• Able to continuously record until all SD cards are full due to continous power provided by solar panel.

 

GPS and Scheduling Features

• Built-in GPS automatically time-syncs and GEO-stamps your recordings.
• Comes with scheduler software to program complex sampling schedules if required, including sunrise/sunset based recordings, different recordings on different days and waking up at a future date.

• Highly sensitive, low noise omnidirectional microphone with a 20dB class A pre-amp and cable driver.
• Internal microphone memory chip tracks microphone age over time
